Dorchester Living appointed Focus on Design to undertake an initial land appraisal on Phase 2 of their redevelopment of the largest former airfield in Europe at RAF Heyford, in Oxfordshire.

The appraisal led to an initial application for 50 residential properties. We developed a new set of bespoke properties for the scheme and worked closely with Cherwell District Council, Oxfordshire County Council, conservation and heritage experts and Design Review panel members. We successfully achieved planning approval in 2014.

Since then, we have been commissioned to create an large portfolio of bespoke houses and apartments, designed to suit both the traditional arts and crafts and contemporary characters of this new community.

Following the success of Phase 2, we have been appointed to undertake land appraisal, masterplanning and architectural design work for a further 6 phases, totaling nearly 600 properties including the most recent application for 297 properties in Phase 9.

The appointment for Phase 9 was extended beyond architectural design and masterplanning to include not only civil engineering but also the design and production of material to support a public consultation event.
