Chapel Gover, Newquay

The landowner commissioned Focus on Design to undertake some initial conceptual work for part a large urban extension on the edge of Newquay, Cornwall. The area forms part of the wider Nansledan new community pioneered by the Duchy of Cornwall.

After some preliminary appraisal work the scheme was discussed and agreed with the Duchy of Cornwall and then successfully presented to the Cornwall Design Review Panel. The panel is made up of key stakeholders and a number multi-disciplinary design professionals. Following this review a Public Consultation event was held.

We were then commissioned to undertake the masterplanning work to support an 800 unit Outline Planning Application working closely with the Duchy of Cornwall, officers at Cornwall Council, key consultees, as well as Local Ward Members,

The scheme incorporates high quality traditional design to reflect the rich and varied architectural style of surrounding Cornish towns and villages.
